So, first order of business - next week's show will go up on Tuesday, not on Monday. That said, this week is a mini-theme show - it's a show dedicated to the stuff I love most of all, as it is my birthday this week (on Thanksgiving no less).
This week also runs a little bit longer than your standard weekly show (by about 10 minutes or so). I still dabble in music from all around the world, but I have a skew towards the things I most wanted to listen to personally this week, and a little less on the discovery. But hey, it should make for a good show nonetheless...
This week, we get extremely international with music from Trinidad, Germany, Portugal, Japan, Russia, India, Mali and China, plus some stuff from the US and England. We dabble into punk, rock, electronica, hip-hop and more. I tell a story about how two different people in my high school had differing opinions about the same band (and how I split the difference.)
The microphone rustle you hear when I'm talking about KES is my cat Maverick, hopping up and into the microphone. I left it on there so he would stop harassing me as I was recording. As always, get the podcast some new friends - tell people about the random jukebox that is the Starlight Society!
Instead of our normal scene shows, for the months of November and December we're going to do something a little bit different. November's big show each year will be a cover songs show, where I play people covering other people's songs. This was such a fun show to put together, I decided to make it an annual thing, so we'll do it again next year! Enjoy!
This week, we don't delve as quite internationally as we usually do, but we play a very wide swath of genres, from an early rap/pop crossover, to the OTHER song that The Rembrandts recorded that got some popularity, to an exotic U2 B-side and more... I also tell a story about dreaming a song I never remember hearing...
I also urge you to go out and find a random person and convince them to download an episode of this podcast (any episode, we're not picky) to try and help us get more listeners.
